About Van Zylshof Wine Estate
Bonnievale is a tiny town in the Robertson region of the Western Cape, but is home to a number of fabulous wine farms. Van Zylshof is one of these that, while small (at only 40 hectares), produces wines that are internationally known and enjoyed.
Van Zylshof has been owned and managed by four generations of the Van Zyl family in line with French family estate traditions. They combine traditional methods of wine-making with modern technology and equipment to produce quality (albeit limited) wines. Their wines include wooded and unwooded Chardonnay, Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot blend, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. The unwooded Chardonnay has been the esteemed recipient of a number of Veritas Gold Awards.
The goal of the Van Zyls remains to produce easy-drinking wines that are not overly expensive, but that maintain their integrity to quality.
Wine tastings and cellar tours are a must for visitors to Van Zylshof. In addition, Bonnievale may be small, but it is certainly worth strolling around for a taste of the Western Cape history.
