The Wine Cellar in Observatory, Cape Town, opened up its trading doors in 2000. They import fine wines from all around the world including Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. They also source great quality wines from around South Africa at good prices. You can enjoy tastings in Cape Town and Joburg and choose from introductory tastings or wine dinners. They also offer cellaring, brokerage and shipping services.
They aim to make the introductory tastings informative and fun. So if you are a newbie to the world of wine, this would be perfect for you. Pay R200 for a tasting or receive the 6th tasting free if you book five initially. You’ll get the opportunity to taste the benchmark SA wines with their imports. For those looking for something more luxurious, book a spot in their premium tastings or wine dinners such as a Mouton Rothschild tasting and a Bordeaux 1982 dinner. Tastings begin at 18:30 and finish at 20:15 and constitute between 12 and 16 wines.
