The magic of another world; a world where fairies live; where characters can be purple; where monsters are friendly; where possibilities are infinitive and where time is eternal; is unlocked weekly at The Rainbow Puppet Theatre.
Entertaining families since 1992, this stage is South Africa's only dedicated puppet theatre and magic kingdom to creative minds. This 110 seater child friendly venue is housed in the Kindergarten building of the Waldorf School, nestled in the Constantia wine route, and is a permanent platform for fun.
Splashed artistically with paint this is the home to professional puppets whose personalities charm both children and their care-givers. Succumb to the spell of hand crafted glove puppets, rod puppets and shadow puppets. The beautiful set has a full stage gleaming with stage lights with productions accompanied by live music.
The ancient art of storytelling is re-visited in this puppet playground with tales of 'The Frog Prince', 'Snow White and the Red Rose', 'Sleeping Beauty and 'Hansel and Gretel' forming some of the collection of sixteen stories which are alternated monthly. A permanent team of five puppeteers bring to life the story realm that connects children to their imaginations. Master puppet artists peacefully portray stories past down by countless generations by word of mouth and ultimately compiled in a collection by the brothers Grimm.
Surrounded by splendid picnic and playground space kids joyfully cartwheel in the outdoors enjoying a morning of entertainment away from technology and television. Parking is free and ample.
