About The High Road Wines

The High Road wines owners are Les Sweidan and Mike Church. They focus on making Bordeaux style blended red wines. They purchase their grapes and therefore their wine displays the elements of various wine making seasons.

They made their first wine in 2003 and all the grapes for their Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot blends yield from the Golden Triangle in Stellenbosch. The High Road produces a Reserve and a Classic Blend.

The Reserve only results from wines which have gone through careful barrel selection from the team. Mike Carmichael-Green is the winemaker of The High Road. He comes with over 20 years of experience in the winemaking industry and uses a perfectionist method to the vines and ultimately the wines. His winemaking is “Don’t plant vines for grapes, but for the brilliance that can be achieved with wine.”

The three grapes varieties go through a process of chilling, destalking, crushing and fermentation before being basket pressed and matured for 12-16 months. Taste their superb wines and taste the ideal balance between structure and fruit.
