The Burgundy in Hermanus

With its beachfront location and impressive ‘nude food’ approach to dining, we highly recommend The Burgundy for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Burgundy doesn’t rely on its location to do all the work - the décor, atmosphere and food are all equally as good. Centrally situated in the hustle and bustle of the old harbour, it is the perfect spot to relax between sight-seeing and whale-watching.

Serving delicious breakfasts and delectable lunches and dinners, we touch on a few favourites from the menu, which include: fresh west coast mussels, grilled tiger prawns and beer battered deep-fried hake with chips and homemade tartar sauce. The whole baby roast chicken with lemon, rosemary and olive oil sounds heavenly - while the aged beef fillet, topped with a brandy and peppercorn sauce, jostles for first place. The seafood platter sounds enticing, with prawns, grilled hake, calamari and freshly steamed mussels. But above all, we think that sitting on the terrace watching the ocean, with a beer and fish and chips, is a simple yet unbeatable delight.
