Taking pride of place in the third oldest house in Montagu, Templetonís Restaurant was voted one of the top 20 restaurants in South Africa. Named after chef, Stephen Templeton (formerly the executive chef at the Mount Nelson), the restaurant offers an alfresco, slow bistro food experience under the shade of a tree-lined courtyard.
Starters on the menu include delicious dishes such as; duck & date spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce; salmon trout with pear compote and petit herb salad and West Coast oysters with red onion salsa. Main courses include rib-sticking fare such as the marinated lamb rump; fillet of beef; Malay curry; ostrich fillet and the lighter option of line fish, served with crab and leek ravioli and mussel ragout.
The menu leaves no question as to why Templetonís was voted one of South Africaís favourite restaurants. With its quaint setting, steeped in historical nostalgia, and a top chef at the helm, Templetonís shines brightly as a must-visit on the foodie map of Route 62.
