Somerbosch wines were first produced in 1995 on the working farm of ‘Die Fontein’ (the fountains). The Roux family had been making wine here over half a century.
As with many great wine estates, this one begins with a wonderful story. Wally Roux grew up next door to the land and married the girl next door. He bought Die Fonteine farm and his sons Marius and Japie began running the farm in 1995.
Their brother Wrensch joined them in 2005. They made wine under various labels and sold grapes before their premium label Somserbosch came about. This range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz.
Their entry level range, Poker Hill is a BEE venture between farm workers the owners. The farm workers have a 70% share, while Somerbosch has a 30% share in this range. Their flagship blend, Kylix, Another entry level range is a dry white & dry red called Seugnet. Experience their pairing of four red wines and homemade red wine ice cream.
