Soak up the Steenbras Gorge

The Steenbras Gorge is a quick 45 minute drive from Cape Town and makes for a perfect day away. You will need to walk the Steenbras River Trail, which is a 90 minute meander up the gorge through fynbos vegetation. There are some steep bits to contend with along the way but you will be richly rewarded with a waterfall and Crystal Pool; a huge, deep pool which is perfect for swimming.

You will need a buy a permit at the gate to enter the area and numbers are restricted to only 50 people per day, so get there early to avoid disappointment. Permits are available at Sunbird Resort. Remember this area can get very hot during the summer so packing enough water with your picnic lunch is advisable.
