About Slanghoek Cellar
Slanghoek Cellar was first established in 1951 and due to its location amongst the Slanghoek Mountains, received its name. The Slanghoek valley is a sight to behold and a visit to this estate will prove to be well worth it. The estate has four winemakers Nico Grundling, Jacques de Goede, Jaco Theron and Paul Burger.
Slanghoek is well known for their red, white, sparkling, dessert wines and port. With viticulturist, Callie Coetzee on board, the estate has been producing fine wines since their maiden harvest half a century ago. Their latest cultivars planted include Touriga Nacional, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Barbera, Pinot Noir, Viognier and Novelle.
They have won multiple awards such as the three gold medals at the South African National Young Wine Show 2010, featuring two Best in Class winners (Hanepoot/Chardonnay blend and Colombar) and a double gold medel for their Slanghoek Private Selection Crème de Chenin 2009 at the San Francisco International Wine Competition 2010 and a silver medal for the Pinotage 2007 and bronze for the Chenin Blanc 2010.
Visit for a wine tasting or a ‘Blend & Bottle’ session where visitors can blend their own bottle of wine with the help of winemakers. You may spot a springbok, canoe along the Breede River or hike up the mountains.
