About Rustenberg Wine Estate

Vineyards have been growing on this farm since 1682. German Roelof Pasman started his farm here and his grandson Pieter Laubscher inherited Rustenberg at the age of 19 and ensured that the wine production doubled. After changing hands, Peter and Pamela Barlow bought the farm in 1941 as well as Schoongezicht (which had once formed a part of Rustenberg). Their son Simon took over in 1987 and has been running the farm ever since.

Cape Dutch buildings from 1700 stand proudly outside the garden, the cellar was once a cow shed and the tasting room is inside the old horse stables. Elreda and Roland will welcome you warmly in the upper level of the tasting centre. Simon instructed the architect to wow visitors with the design of the tasting room.

There are so many places to taste wine, why not make this one extra special? The wine tasting bar is made from old wine barrels and the setting is intimate yet stylish. Some of the farm’s red blends have been named after people who have significantly contributed to this farm. Rustenberg’s flagship wine is named after Peter Barlow and only uses grapes from the special region of the vineyards where minerals are abundant in the compact soil.
