We recommend booking ahead as this is an experience not to be missed. The historic stable building was originally the herberg (inn) of Swellendam and was named after a historical local heroine. The low reed ceiling, thick plastered walls and candlelit atmosphere reflects an ambience of a bygone era.
The menu represents a variety of cooking styles from French cuisine to Cape Malay fare. If you are a seafood lover then you are in for a treat with the mussels starter to the seafood bouquet of calamari, line fish and prawns. However, if you are adventurous try the snails or beef fillet carpaccio with parmesan shavings starters and for a main dish the pan-fried beef fillet with garlic butter and porcini sauce, served with potato croquettes.
The extensive wine list compliments the exquisite cuisine.
