About Post House Wines

In 1981, Hermann Gebers bought the farm which is now known as Post House. He planted vineyards in place of the tobacco and bush vines throughout this beautiful property with views of False Bay, Cape Point and the Helderberg Mountains.

Nick Gebers made a few barrels of wine as an experiment in 1996. After working in Burgundy and producing two vintages, the farm’s first vintage was released. The homestead on the farm was served as a post office for the missionary community of Raithby. It was named Post House as a symbol of its postal origin. There are 45 hectares of vines which have been producing wine for six years.

Cultivars of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Petite Verdot, Pinotage, Chenin Blanc and Viognier were planted. Their ranges consists of the Missing Virgin 2008, Penny Black 2007 (named after the first stamp in the world to be printed), Treskilling Yellow 2008 (a name which refers to a printing error on a Swedish stamp), Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Merlot 2006, Shiraz 2007, Chenin Blanc 2008, Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Blueish Black 2008 and Blueish White 2008.
