This exquisite estate located in the Elgin Valley is well worth a visit as they offer a lot more than just premium wines. Their venture began in 2003 and since then their cool climate wines have done exceedingly well. The Oak Valley estate is situated over 1786 hectares of land and has its claim to fame in cut flowers, fruit and cattle. They have excellent ratings and have Champion status from the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI). As a long time supplier to Woolworths, their fresh cut flower division began in 1978 and is the largest wholesaler in the Western Cape. All the cattle and pics are free-range, eat grass and live in the most natural of ways and ensure that the meat is tasty and tender. You can order vacuum packed meat directly from the farm.
For the adventurous, there’s the Oak Valley MTB trail which consists of 3 marked routes; a 14km for the family, a 24 km route for intermediate riders and 32km route for advanced ones. They offer the following wines: Sauvignon Blanc 2011, The OV Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2008, Chardonnay 2011, Pinot Noir 2011 and Merlot Cabernet Blend 2007.
