Napier Winery is named after Sir George Napier, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope 1837 – 1843, who distinguished himself by abolishing slavery. It was he who named Wellington in honour of the famous Duke of Wellington, his erstwhile commanding officer in the wars against Napoleon.
The Winery is set in a stunning location in the heart of Wellington and boasts a modern cellar and newly built brandy distillery. Here handcrafted wines are produced and now the Sir George Potstill brandy. Napier Winery Strives to make exceptional wines that reflect their African roots. All grapes for the wine are grown on Napier vineyards, handpicked and sorted with enormous care. There are some fantastic ranges to sample here including the Sir George ultra premium wines, Napier premium wines and the Lion Creek commercial wines.
