About Muizenberg Beach
Stop any Cape local with a wetsuit tan, the give-away sun bleached hair and a broad pair of paddling shoulders and ask them 'Excuse me where did you learn how to surf?' and you can bet your favourite flippers they'll say 'Dude, Muizenberg Beach da-ah!'.
Miles and miles and then some more miles of white sand, with swells and swells and then some more swells of gently breaking sets means that this is the ideal beach to start learning how to get from horizontal to vertical in one ocean motion. When the wind blows cross-shore try kite-surfing the strip for a rush.
The length of the beach means sunbathers can avoid bumping into... well those you would rather not bump into when you're fresh out of winter in the most flattering creation that Lycra has to offer. Of course walking the length of the beach would have you toned and bronzed and ready for your high-school reunion faster than you can say 'I want another ice-cream'.
If finally done with ice-lollies you decide a splash in the sea will cool you off and get the cute lifeguard's attention, you can enjoy these warmer Cape waters of the Indian Ocean. If you eventually do get noticed on your last bodysurf wave into shore but only because the current took you're bathing suit with it, fear not. There are numerous brightly coloured wooden bathing boxes that you can hide behind until sunset and the kids will be so busy building sandcastles they'll never notice.
