In 1751, Meerhof Winery and Cellar began. You’ll find it on the Wynkeldershoek Farm in the Swartland and its owner is Cobus Kotze. The Swartland gets its name from the indigenous ‘rhinoceros bush’ which is black in colour. It’s a region of rolling wheatfields, vineyards and an abundance of the Cape’s conserved indigenous plants. It is known for one of the best views in the Swartland area and whilst sipping wine you can experience breathtaking views.
The new winemaker Johan Meyer gives a very informative cellar tour and the prices of their wines are quite affordable. They have wine label which is a joint venture with Mount Abora. All the wines are naturally made, using no commercial yeast and zero modern winemaking additions. All their wines have hip labels are laid-back and very impressive.
