About Laborie Wine Estate
The Laborie Wine Estate is part of a small group of Estate brandy producers. Méthode Cap Classique Sparkling wines, white, red and fortified Pinotage dessert wines as well as Brandy is available under the Laborie name. The farm was first granted to Isaac Taillefert in 1691, named after the French La Bri district. They cleared bush beside the Berg River, planted vines and after seven years they produced wine. Frenchman François Lequat wrote that the estate’s wine was “the best in the colony and similar to our small wine of Champagne.”
In 1972, KWV bought the estate and continually got attention from the rest of the world for their wines. Granite from the quarry on Laborie’s land formed the foundation of South Africa’s Parliament building.
Overnight in the guesthouse, enjoy a meal at Harvest at Laborie or pop in on a Saturday between 09h00 and 14h00 for the Laborie Lazy Days Market which first began in 2009 and saw Laborie becoming the ‘farm in the centre of Paarl’. Bring the family and enjoy a mix of entertainment for the kids and fresh produce and lifestyle goods for you.
