About Jacques Smit Wines
Jacques Smit Wines has an exceptional vineyard with alot of history and true passion behind the winemaking process. Jacques is a vine nurseryman, he is very enthusiastic about grape-vines and wine! Jacques likes to experiment and see the end result and effects of various clones of grape variety, as reflected in the wine.
The wine at Jacques Smit is made in open cement tanks and the grape skins are pushed through by hand. The wines are unfiltered, with sulphur levels being kept low and no finings added. The wine is them moved into oak barrels for storage.
Come and sample some the divine wines and port and enjoy the rich, full flavoured, complex range including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, Cape Riesling and the relatively newcomer, Roobernet. You will not find a description on any bottle labels describing the wine, Jacques believes the enjoyment is in discovering the pleasure for yourself.
