About Home of Klipdrift
It is because Robertson, the Valley of Wine and Roses, produces such magnificent Colombar and Chenin Blanc grapes that this became the natural home of South Africa’s most famous brandy house, Klipdrift. The methods used to distil these award-winning brandies hail from the first brandy produced here by Kosie Marais in 1938.
The Klipdrift label includes Klipdrift Gold (a pot-stilled brandy that has earned itself a number of awards), Klipdrift Premium, Klipdrift Export (the original) and Klipdrift & Cola (an easy drinking mixer that is popular amongst young and old alike). The most important facet of the Klipdrift experience remains the social appeal, generosity and hospitality of the brand.
Formal distillery tours and brandy tastings are conducted every day, but self-guided tours can be taken at any time. There are a number of different tours, including “Met Soush” (a brandy pairing with brandy-marinated meats) and “Sweet Treats” (pairing brandies with baked goods). A number of Klipdrift goods can be purchased at the distillery, and a delicious South African meal can be enjoyed at the elegantly laid-back Brandewyntuin Restaurant.
