Holden Manz Wine Estate in Franschhoek, Western Cape

The Holden Manz wine estate, once known as Klein Genot, is owned by Gerard Holden and Migo Man who first arrived in South Africa in the 1990s and after travelling to many world regions around the world, decide to begin an estate with great wine and a wonderful family environment. It lies between the Franschhoek and Stoney Brook rivers and makes for a perfect setting to walk amongst the vineyards, taste wine alongside the river and picnic beneath the oaks.

The estate is not fully organic yet, but the team grow their produce in the most natural way, recycle waste, save electricity and conserve water in their indigenous gardens with the aim of becoming carbon neutral. Their ‘Franschhoek kitchen’ restaurant serves fresh produce from the gardens in summer including seasoning, jams, juices, chicken, eggs and blue-gum honey. The new premium wine, big G 2009 was a gold medal winner at the decanter world wine awards 2011.

Collect your pre-ordered picnic baskets from the restaurant and find a spot beside the Franschhoek River under the oak trees to enjoy our wine and your meals. Stay a night or two in the exclusive suites in the manor house with their private terraces or visit the day spa. Go for a wine tasting straight out of the barrels in the fully automated winery or pop by the estate on a Saturday morning to shop around for fresh produce, breakfasts, wines and more at the farmers’ market.
