For those who love to go slightly off the beaten track in search of the lesser-known gems, then Hidden Valley is a place you have to visit.
Before you even reach the cellar, views from the ramp up to it will bring a smile to your face. The estate produces six quality wines grown on the estate.
Hidden Valley Wines produces two white wines: Hidden Valley Sauvignon Blanc (100% Sauvignon Blanc) and Sauvignon Blanc Viognier; a rose wine: Hidden Treasure; and three reds: Hidden Valley Pinotage (Pinotage 100%); Hidden Valley Hidden Gems (a 50:50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot); and Hidden Valley Hidden Secret, their flagship wine (Shiraz, 60%, Tannat, 27% and Mourvedre,13%). Hidden valley also produces olives, olive oil and tapenade for their own 400 trees.
Award winning chef Bertus Basson will prepare a phenomenal meal at their restaurant, Overture, so be sure to book as you may be on a waiting list of a month or so. There’s a wine tasting menu, picnic-hampers for the gardens and a fynbos trail to enjoy.
