In 1990, Paul and Susan McNaughton bought the rather small 18 hectare farm. Susan is the winemaker and viticulturalist, whilst Paul handles the finances and admin. In the heart of red wine country, Graceland is situated against the Helderberg slopes.
The first vintages saw two single varietals, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, launched and in 2002, the Shiraz and The Three Graces flagship blend. The farm is planted with 4 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5 hectares of Merlot and 3.5 hectares of Shiraz.
You’ll notice the image of a famous painting ‘Three Graces’ on the front of the bottle. The artist was Baron Jean Baptiste Regnault whose painting can be seen in the Louvre. Graceland chose this symbol as it embodies beauty, charm and joy. It is said that when the watch dogs begins eating grapes off the vine, that signals the start of the harvest.
Anytime is perfect to visit Graceland. There are shady verandahs for the summertime and a fire in winter. They have B&B with two spacious rooms where breakfast is served daily overlooking the garden and tennis court.
