The Galileo Open Air Cinema has selected Central Park at Century City to be another of its very special venues, complementing the memorable experience that they offer in partnership with Savanna. Century City is along the N1 highway, within close proximity to the City Bowl. While it is known primarily for its massive mall, it is also a popular venue for a number of sports, musical and entertainment events.
The Galileo experience is all about watching great movies with family, friends or someone special under the romance and ethereal beauty of the summer night sky. The line-up comprises more than 100 popular films, which include a number of genres to appeal to the masses. Look out for firm favourites like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Mama Mia! Other venues show different blockbusters, such as The Notebook, Searching For Sugar Man, Legally Blonde, Eat Pray Love, Best of YouTube, Top Gun, The Shawshank Redemption, The Vow, The Gods Must Be Crazy, Pulp Fiction, Amelie, Moulin Rouge, Titanic, and The Motorcycle Diaries.
Such variety ensures that, no matter what the occasion or the group, there should be something that everyone will enjoy. Book well in advance for special events, such as Valentine’s Day, to avoid disappointment.
The market at Central Park offers a fabulous place to start the evening. The gates open at 18h00, and guests are encouraged to come early to book the best seats for the movie. Then, peruse the food and beverage stalls to sample great craft beers, South African wines, pizza, sushi, South African cuisine and other indulgent snacks and sweets. Conveniently, there are Banting options available, as well as a full bar facility. The movie begins at sunset.
Central Park is The Galileo Open Air Cinema’s venue every second Friday of the month during the warmer months of November to April, making the most of the temperate Cape Town summer evenings. Tickets can be booked and purchased online.
