Fly Fish Cape Town takes advantage of the excellent fresh water and salt water conditions that are in and around the Mother City. This company was established by accomplished fly fisherman, Graeme Field, who is also an international fly fishing guide and freelance journalist and photographer. He shares his experience and knowledge with locals and visitors from all corners of the world, showcasing the abundance of the Western Cape. Whether you have years of fly fishing experience behind you, or you simply want to try your hand at something new, Fly Fish Cape Town will cater to your time frames and requirements.

Fly Fish Cape Town makes use of the freestone trout streams that can be found in the Du Toitskloof Mountain Range. These streams are home to wild rainbow trout and brown trout, which can be caught against absolutely stunning vistas of South African flora. These streams are less than an hour’s drive from the centre of Cape Town and comprise six individual rivers. All fish are caught on a strict catch-and-release basis. The streams are closed between 31 May and 1 September and getting to them requires a fair degree of fitness. The package includes a guide, tackle, permits and licences, meals and refreshments, and lasts a total of eight hours (with six hours of fishing time).

For saltwater anglers, there is a choice between the De Mond Lagoon; which is 2.5 hours’ drive from Cape Town and full of kob, white steenbras, leervis, elf and spotted grunter; and Langebaan Lagoon. De Mond is a wading-only lagoon and the package offers anglers the chance to learn about and try poppers and sliders or technical flats styles and stalking. Langebaan Lagoon is home to leervis, elf and white steenbras, and anglers can try fly and lure from the shore or by wading further in. In addition, fishermen can look forward to stalking and sight casting sand sharks and guitarfish. These packages include a guide, permits, entry fees to the reserves, lunch, snacks, refreshments, and tackle.
