The homestead was built in 1791 and the De Waal owned the farm from 1864. Nine generations later and Chris, Pieter and Daniel de Waal still making wine under the family name. The pioneering Cape Blend of Daniel’s using Pinotage as the main ingredient and it has received excellent ratings due to its fruity character and complex nature.
The following ranges are available: The Reserve range which includes Top of the Hill Pinotage, Signal Rock, Cabernet Sauvignon and CT de Waal Pinotage; The Black Label range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Merlot and the Young Vines range including a Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Chenin Blanc, Merlot and a Shiraz. The last range is affordable wines which maintain a high quality. From the tasting room, you can peek into the cellar to see how wines are made. There is however no cellar tours.
