The Caledon Wildflower Trail within the Caledon Wildflower Reserve, is a 10km hike through natural mountain fynbos, up to the summit of the Swartberg.
The flora and fauna, including abundant bird life, is a memorable showcase of South Africa’s beautiful indigenous floral kingdom. The trail itself is steep, but offers breathtaking views of the natural beauty of the Cape Overberg area.
Hikers are advised to bring their own drinking water on the trail, which offers no water along the trail, even though it is well-maintained and easy to navigate. There are facilities available at the Caledon Nature Reserve and Wildflower Garden, which include ablutions, a picnic site and a tearoom, perfect for enjoying a light meal and a refreshing drink after completing the trail.
