About Burcon Wines
Easy living is the name of the Burcon game, and its wines reflect this laid-back, unperturbed mood. The old cellar dates back some 150 years and was originally built specifically for the purpose of wine making. Still, it was only in 2004 that the families of Burcon decided to make their own easy-drinking wines from the superior grapes growing in this part of the Western Cape.
In addition to creating wines that were easy to enjoy in the serenity of the South African bushveld, the developers behind the Burcon brand were also determined to keep these wines affordable. Each wine comes with its own story, printed in full on the labels. These are all true, and give the red and white wines a personality of their own.
The Kolgans restaurant allows visitors to dine on traditional Afrikaans dishes while cruising down the Breede River. In addition, there are a number of walking and hiking trails through the mountains and vineyards, as well as guided horse riding tours for those wanting to enjoy the Western Cape more fully.
