Tinus Krüger is the new winemaker and whilst the grapes come from Rustenberg, Brampton wines are produced in the cellar of Boschendal in Franschhoek. This label fairs quite well within restaurants and it’s new ‘Chalk Revolution’ will immediately catch your eye if you’re walking past. Jars of chalk line the bar and colourful fonts decorate the walls. It gives the wine a trendy image and urges you to connect via the social media platforms, thus encouraging a younger, local market.
70 000 cases are produced annually and it has an excellent quality to price ratio. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are often rated with 3 or 4 stars and costs R50 a bottle. Its range has a loud, colourful personality and vibrant packaging. They stay open later than most wine farms and is the perfect stop before dinner. There are light snacks of olives or biltong served and you can experience a wine tasting with a choice of three whites, a rose and four reds.
