This boutique winery located an hour and a half outside of Cape Town in Walker Bay, focuses all their wine making finesse on producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines. It all began in 1989 and today there is only about 22 hectares of the land planted to vines to ensure that the fynbos can flourish and be conserved throughout the rest of the land.
Found on the slopes of the Galpin Peak is their flagship wine, Galpin Peak Pinot Noir. Winemaker Peter Finlayson claims that Pinot Noir is like opera and continues that, “When it is great it is pure seduction almost hedonistic. There is no middle road.” This Pinot Noir is a combination of Italian and French cultivars grown on the estate. Whilst the Sauvignon Blanc seems to be a difficult variety to master, he does it well and the result is tremendous.
They have many older vintages available so find out about purchasing vintages such as the Pinot Noir from 1993-2009, Hannibal from 2001-2008, Chardonnay from 1992-2010, Sauvignon Blanc from 1991-2010 and the Blanc de Mer from 1991-2010.
