As with most wine estates in the Stellenbosch region, Biltonís origins go back centuries. The first vines were planting in 1726. The old cellar, which no serves as the tasting room, wine bar and restaurant, was built in 1824.
Its large leather chairs will beg you to relax in them beside the fire with wine in hand. The estate owes its superb wines to Viticulturist, Ruan du Plessis who tends to the vines and winemakers Rudi de Wet and Elizma van der Mescht alongside wine consultant Giorgio Dalla Cia.
Biltonís flagship wine is Sir Percy. Their delicious summer picnic baskets come with the estates first white blend, the Bilton White 2007. If you prefer reds, replace it with one of their fine reds Shiraz, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.
Enjoy a light lunch on the sweeping lawns which are all paired with a Bilton wine. Inside the tasting room, the marvel of Bilton wine and chocolate tastings await. Their red wines are paired with dark Belgian chocolates to enhance the flavours of the wine. Itís also the perfect setting for casual, intimate or large functions or weddings.
