Situated at the foot and the leviathan like Langeberg Mountain range that snake their way over hundreds of kilometres is the Arendsig Wine estate. Arendsig translates into “Eagle view” and is just one hint at the wealth of natural beauty that the Robertson wine valley has to display.
The privately owned farm has its own vineyards and boutique cellar located in the southern hills of the valley. Run by Lourens van der Westhuizen and his experienced team, the farm selects only the finest grapes from which to craft the wines of distinct aroma, flavour and character for which they are famous. The farm has been blessed with a diverse selection of soils in which to root their vineyards, from the sandy soils near the river, the deeper and richer soils in the middle and right up against the mountains the vines have taken root right in the rocks.
The farms water originates in the Du Toitskloof and Ceres Mountain Ranges which is stored in the nearby Brandvlei Dam and finally makes its way down from there. As with most passionate farms, there is always something happening on Arendsig, visit their website and join them for the day sampling the elegant range of Reds and Whites they have to offer.
