About Old Mission Market
The Old Mission Market is a fantastic non-profit community market that is designed to showcase local talent under the umbrella of fun. This is a craft and farmers’ market, and sits idyllically perched on the scenic banks of the Orange River, where the air is crisp and clear, and the sunshine rains down generously.
The Old Mission Market allows local farmers and other folk to provide their unique goods; ranging from roast chicken, traditional boerekos and cheeses, to old-school-style rusks, homemade cakes, and home-grown fruit and vegetables that come directly from this gorgeous area.
The market is held in the serene surrounds of the historical Kalahari Oranje Museum, imbuing the entire experience with a magically tranquil vibe. This part of South Africa (Upington and its surrounds in the Northern Cape Province) is acclaimed for the wines that are produced here, and those visiting the market are invited to sample some of these during their time here.
