Overnight? Stay at accommodation in Kaapsehoop, in Mpumalanga

The Kaapsehoop Ghost tour is an hour-long tour of the small village that was at the eye of the storm of much of South Africa’s most powerful historical stories. There was murder, intrigue, mystery – and the Kruger millions – all of which stemmed from the area’s shady gold mining past.

Wild horses roam the area, descendants from the British forces. Famous ghost stories include one of an old woman who was rumoured to have murdered her husband with an axe during a fit of rage; another is of children crying for help and laughing at the nearby rocks.

The pub in town has apparently seen its fare share of strange phenomena, with the smashing of crockery when music is played at high decibels!
