The province of Gauteng in South Africa offers visitors many attractions and exciting activities, and is the springboard for a host of international tourists who land at the OR Tambo International Airport to begin their African experience. This bustling, commercial province is also the home of many natural oases and retreats and the Rust De Winter Bundu 4x4 Trail is one of these.

This trail is a strictly guided one that takes about 48 hours to complete. It winds its way for about 80 kilometres through the scenic countryside and has a grading of between three and four. It is a circular trail that requires an overnight stay at the bush camp, which promises amazing views of the South African landscapes. The camp is equipped with flush toilets, but potable water will need to be brought along by the drivers and those staying over.

The Rust De Winter Bundu 4x4 Trail includes steep slopes with rocky terrain, sandy areas and river crossings for a fantastic challenge for experienced drivers of various capabilities. However, it is not recommended that amateur drivers tackle the course as the technical parts of the course are sure to test one’s knowledge and skills.

This 4x4 trail is complemented by walking, cycling and hiking trails for those that love the outdoors and want to experience the fresh air and sunshine of the open country. In addition, visitors can venture into the bush to spot some of the many bird species, as well as to go on day and night game drives. Be ready to spot some antelope and other fabulous wildlife.
