These green flag trails in the heart of the Waterberg are wonderful for families or hiking groups keen on interesting, well marked walks through mountains, valleys, streams, kloofs, sandstone cliffs, and savannah bushveld. The environment is beautiful, the hikes between seven and eleven km and the ascents and descents taxing but by no means intimidating.
Lindani is a 3 000 hectare bushveld reserve known for its mountainous and well vegetated landscapes. Through the farm run a number of streams and there is a large vareity of game that include antelope, baboons, warthog, giraffe and zebra. The bird list borders on 230 different bird species.
Melkrivier Trail – 11.2 km
The trail runs alongside the Melkrivier for much of the time, which translates into river pool stops to refresh. Expect a fairly steep couple of climbs, followed by a steep descent. But there are also stretches of level walking through the bushveld.
Mountain Trail – 10 km
This trail circles the ridge of mountains that run through Lindani from north to south of the reserve. It is a varied hike that offers good views of the Waterberg. The hike passes through kloofs and under groups of trees.
Koperspruit Trail – 7.6 km
This trail follows the Koperspruit along a small gorge and then crosses the Melkrivier to climb right out of the amphitheatre before descending back through savannah bushveld .
Kloof Trail – 7.3 km
Shares the start of the Koperspruit trail and then heads up a narrow kloof alongside the water. It returns along another watercourse before heading through a small forest.
