Ant's Hill and Ant's Nest bush camps are both fabulous retreats for city slickers that need a break from the urban epicentres and into the untouched beauty of the South African bushveld. They are nestled within the stunning wonders of the Waterberg Biosphere in the Limpopo Province. Visitors from all corners of the globe delight in visiting the area, exploring the prettiness and taking photographs set against unbeatable backdrops.
This region and these camps boast plenty of fauna and flora, which is breath-taking to see from atop one of the fit, responsive horses of Antís Hill and Antís Nest. These guided horse rides or horse safaris are at a comfortable pace, while using the plentiful supply of the horsesí energy for those visitors that want to conserve their own. Thanks to their excellent training and good natures, the horses are flexible, catering to novices as well as to those that are comfortable and experienced with horses.
There are nearly 90 horses at Antís Hill and Antís Nest. They comprise both thoroughbreds and Arab-boerperd (an Afrikaans term that translates directly to ďfarmerís horseĒ) varieties; as well as ponies, which are great for the little ones.
The horse rides are conducted by two guides, who are able to answer questions regarding the natural wonders of the region as well as to ensure the safety of the riders. Due to the calm nature of the horses and the knowledge of the guides, riders can often get closer to the wildlife of the reserve than they would in a motorised vehicle.
Being in the bush, riding one of these powerful creatures and feeling the warm sunshine on your face gives riders the unique opportunity to experience South Africa in a very real, unhindered way.
