Part of the delight of exploring South Africa is getting to know and be a part of its natural abundance and beauty. Blue Wilderness is an ecotourism company, based in Durban (KwaZulu-Natal), that specialises in marine logistics. Its focus is on developing and guiding marine expeditions for divers, researchers and visitors that want to experience the beauty of the eastern coastline, and the many mammals, rays, and shark species to which it is home.
Blue Wilderness is a well-known and –respected company that is renowned for its educational, adrenalin-inducing shark and marine predator adventure encounters. By exposing visitors to the wonders that lie beneath the ocean’s surface, Blue Wilderness hopes to raise awareness and change the perspective of those who are unaware of the threats facing such wildlife. By facilitating an up-close-and-personal encounter with predators like sharks, it is the hope that people will become more committed to their preservation.
Customised expeditions mean that visitors will be able to tailor their experience, making it even more memorable and special.
Those embarking on these exciting expeditions do not need to have a SCUBA qualification. They are appropriate for anyone from 8 years old and up. The swim with sharks takes about 2.5 hours and yields sightings of blacktip sharks, tiger sharks, dusky sharks and ragged tooths, as well as dolphins and even whales in the second half of the year. You also have the option of cage diving.
After the excitement of the dive, visitors will be invited to a delicious lunch at the Blue Wilderness Dive Centre.
