Deep in the exquisite KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, where balmy sunny days are complemented by verdant greenery and the friendly smiles of the locals is the charming Rosetta Country Market. Located at the Rosetta Village Lake, this market enjoys scenic backdrops and a wide array of fantastic stalls that invite locals and visitors back time and again to enjoy the fresh produce and unique finds.
There are deliciously hearty breakfasts available, as well as hot coffee for the perfect start to your day. At the stalls, peckish visitors will find fresh free-range eggs, the locally grown fruit and vegetables of micro-farmers, farm cheeses, pancakes, milk, home-made quiches, cured meats, nougat, preserves, and delicious lamb. The Banting stall boasts a variety of high-fat, low-carb options. There are also excellent craft beers available here, which speak of the talent in the South African brewing circles.
Arts and crafts abound at the Rosetta Country Market. Paintings, knitted goods, greeting cards, hand-crafted soaps, pot plants and more await visitors and make for excellent gifts for those back home. There is even a community stall that works on a “pay it forward” system, selling surplus fruit and vegetables and donating the proceeds to needy charities.
