One of the more recent of Durban's many weekend morning markets, the Morning Trade Market brings Durban farm-fresh ingredients and artisan goods every Sunday between 8am and 1pm.
The market provides a platform for local farmers and producers of artisan and organic products to share their goods with those in Durban who realise the importance of local, homegrown and chemical-free produce.
Not only is it the place to find locally-produced fresh food, but it also functions as a meeting place for friends to enjoy breakfast, in similar fashion to a number of other food markets in Durban.
The market is situated in the city's Rivertown precinct, between the ICC and the beachfront, brought to Durban by the same developer responsible for the Maboneng Precinct in Johannesburg.
Durban may already have the Fresh Fair Market, Shongweni Farmers' market and Essenwood Craft Market, but the Morning Trade market is the only artisanal food market that is based in the city proper.
The market is organised by Anna Savage, the same person who organises the I Heart Market at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Morning Trade market caters for three types of shoppers: the serious grocery buyer, social visitors there to meet friends for breakfast, and those just curious to see what the market is all about.
The long coffee queue is tribute to the market's success.
