Overnight? Stay at accommodation in Matatiele, in KwaZulu Natal

Matatiele is a beautiful town in KwaZulu Natal filled with history and to show it off at its best is the Matatiele Museum.

Originally a Dutch Reformed Church, this sandstone building now houses a vast collection of interesting items and relics such as photos of Matatiele as it developed into the beautiful place it is today, antique household objects, old post boxes and a collection of fossils.

While here you can gather information on the history of the town and its neighbouring areas as well as that of the Xhosa, Sotho, San and Zulu cultures. This magnificent building which previously had many uses, is now a provincial heritage site and national monument, and is well worth a visit.
