Crag’s View Wild Care Centre in Port Edward, KwaZulu-Natal, is the only formal rehabilitation centre for wildlife in the South Coast area. It homes, treats and rehabilitates birds and animals that have been orphaned or that have suffered debilitating injuries.
These injuries and orphaning incidents are usually caused by human interference and it is of paramount importance to this centre to educate young and old about the role that they can and do play in the protection and conservation of the animals around them.
Some of the wild residents include a number of antelope species (such as blue duikers and bush buck), small mammals that are indigenous to the area, and plenty of bird species, big and small. Educational talks are available. Attending these talks and touring the facility is by appointment only, Monday to Sunday.
