Wander through the wonderland of Wondercave. 87 Footsteps lead you one step at a time down to an eccentric elevator or abseil adventure that lowers you a further 18 metres into a hollow rock cavity of chiselled creation with the lowest reachable point anchored 100m below.
Millenniums of solidified minerals reach 1.5 million years into history when an earthquake cracked a fault line exposing this 10 million year old wonder. Centuries calcified this 46000m² pocket of preservation whose secrets are revealed through guided tours. Sight scopes encapsulated rockwork reaching 60 meters from base to crust, extending 125 meters across the earth and expanding 54 meters from side to side.
Cave pearls await discovery as hidden jewels in this third largest cave chamber in South Africa. Stalactites cling to rock ceilings like carved chandeliers. Stalagmites surface from sleeping stone, standing still as a stubborn dare to gravity. Fields of formations take fanciful silhouettes sprouting classified mushroom, straw and popcorn shapes as well as the Madonna profile. Imaginations swim underground with shadows in rim stone pools or the dry lake. Subtle lighting reflects naturally shaped limestone sculptures that accompany visitors along well lit paths allowing head height clearance throughout. Fascinating for all ages as an individual activity or in combination with a visit to the neighbouring Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve.
