The Bull Run is an upmarket restaurant, catering to appreciators of fine cuts of fine meat and meat-centric dishes. Located in the CBD, opposite the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, The Bull Run specialises in ‘power lunches’ and ‘corporate dinners’, although not to the exclusion of other meat enthusiasts. In-house butcher, Karl Heinz Leske, hand-cuts prime cuts of meat, which have been hung and aged to perfection.
The butchery affords diners the opportunity to take home any cut of meat desired, prepared and packed by a master butcher with 40 years experience. An award-winning wine list, plus a fine selection of cigars, whiskeys and cognacs makes for a luxurious and somewhat decadent experience.
Executive Chef, Jacques Etsebeth, draws from his fourteen years experience, infusing every dish with creativity and flare. Starters are bold and masculine, with dishes such as Springbok Carpaccio, Luderitz Oysters and Peri-peri chicken livers. Steaks are a vision - expertly cut, prepared and grilled. Meat ranges from Rib Eye and T-Bone, to Ostrich Fillet, Venison and tender Fillet Mignon. Things become adventurous with dishes such as the Jalapeno and Feta Fillet, and the Crab Meat and Mushroom Rump, but for those with fewer carnivorous cravings, the Seafood Bouillabaisse and grilled seafood dishes will prove to be equally as sensational.
