RSCDS (The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society) Pretoria Branch invites everyone to try Scottish country dancing for fun, fitness and friendship. It's open to everone if you are 12 or 112 years old, even if you have two left feet.
Learn how to dance reels and strathpeys to traditional Scottish tunes. We dance mainly to fiddle and accordion music, although some dances are danced to the bag pipes. We have qualified teachers. Our members are friendly and will offer you a helping hand and kind eye gestures to get you in the right direction. There are mainly women but we do have five or six men dancing on a regular basis.
We have a break half way through the evening for tea and snacks at no charge. Visitors and newcomers are most welcome and it is free. All you need is soft, flat shoes, comfortable clothing and a desire to want to dance. Kilts are not compulsory, although some men wear them regularly. There are basic dances and intricate dances.
We have a beginners class. There are standard dance formations, which are in most dances. As we are a non-profit organisation, fees are kept to a minimum. There is a small door fee for those who want to come regularly. Membership costs available on request.
Safe and secure parking is available on the premises.
