Dining at Piccolo Mondo, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner, is a sophisticated experience, complete with a renowned menu. With views over Nelson Mandela Square, the old world dining room is reminiscent of the most elegant restaurants the world over, complete with the finest touches and details. Even though it does celebrate opulence, the decor does not invoke a stuffy atmosphere, but invites you rather to feel serene and soothed, with classic tinkling music in the background and seamless service.
It is quite something to happen across a breakfast menu that makes you wish your day will never go beyond 11am, but with their Mauritian, French and Asian influences designed by world-class chefs, itís no surprise that breakfast at Piccolo Mondo is like a dream. Take your pick of the freshest fruit juices while you attempt to choose from fresh pastries, French loaves, poached fruits, Charcuterie and a selection of cheese. Poached eggs are encased in Parmesan, and crepes are served with cinnamon apple, berries, sprinkled nuts and Chantilly cream. However you may have dreamt of having your eggs will be surpassed by Piccolo Mondo, with the addition of honey glazed gammon, crispy bacon, grilled minute steak, or anything your heart desires.
The a la Carte menu opens with sublime starters, ranging from Honey-mustard Smoked Salmon, to Char-grilled Calamari and Fresh Mussels. With salads such as the Prawn and Black Truffle Oil, and the Crispy Duck salad, youíll find it difficult not to order them as a main. The mains menu is not too overwhelming in size, illustrating the care and precision taken with each dish. Your taste buds will be overwhelmed with the Wasabi Grilled Salmon served with Scallops, Ostrich steak massaged with peppercorns and mustard seeds, and the Gorgonzola Beef Fillet.
