Goblin’s Cove is described as a fantasy restaurant, owing to its cove-shaped architecture, natural forest setting on the banks on a small lake on the Magaliesburg River and its magical murals and sculptures. With delicious dishes on offer, in this beautiful, enchanted setting, who could resist a visit to Goblin’s?

On the starter menu, a selection of local favourites tops the ‘what’s hot’ list: a selection of salads and pate or snails, drenched in a blue cheese sauce.

A modest mains menu allows one to choose wisely; the beef fillet looks succulent and delicious, and is served with seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes also served with their famous chilli chocolate sauce. The juicy lamb cutlets sound sensational and the grilled salmon served capers, crispy bacon and roast potatoes with a creamy garlic and chive sauce, is a highlight. The oxtail looks like a ‘must-have’ but vegetarians need not despair as there are a few interesting choices on the menu, such as the tagliatelle or the vegetable pancakes, filled with roast peppers, butternut, feta, caramelized onions and roast pine nuts.

We love a fantastic dessert menu, so we’d suggest heading the Goblin’s Cove for a real treat! End off your Goblin’s experience with a ‘mousse fantasy’, or the delectable Bar One cake; a rich moist chocolate cake with caramel centre, covered with a Parisienne chocolate cream and coated with Bar One chocolate sauce. We’d do anything to try the layers of Japanaise (meringue mixed with almonds) and nougat cream, topped with chocolate shavings, or the hazelnut gateau; a layer of real Venetian Hazelnut ice cream topped with scoops of Vanilla ice cream, streaked with chocolate and crushed hazelnuts.
