The Rose prides itself on serving delicious, hearty gourmet cuisine in a sumptuous, upmarket setting. Referred to as one of George’s hidden gems by those who have discovered it, we’re easily coaxed by their lip-smacking menu offerings.
From the classic prawn cocktail, to the calamari done Portuguese style, The Rose’s starter menu is a Mediterranean influenced feast of the senses. Beef Carpaccio is drizzled with olive oil and balsamic, with touches of pecorino and capers, while the Mediterranean platter is filled with delectable tappas, pesto, hummus, pate and cured meats. The seafood menu continues to impress, with fresh line fish, LM King prawns and calamari catching our eyes and making our taste buds pucker. Peri-peri chicken is served Mozambique style, and pasta lovers will enjoy the lasagne or the basil pesto pasta.
Now if you’re looking for something meaty to sink your teeth into, you’ve come to the right place! All the beef served at The Rose is chosen for quality and then matured for full flavour and tenderness. You’ll find it difficult to choose from the sirloin, rib-eye and rump, which are all served with chips or baked potatoes, smothered in ‘delish’ sauces such as Portobello mushroom and or Madagascan green peppercorn sauce. The rump is trimmed and cut to perfection, and flambéed in port and brandy. The Karoo lamb chops sound utterly irresistible, enjoyed best with creamy mashed potato and mint sauce on the side.
End off your meal at The Rose with Nanna’s cheesecake and warm apple crumble.
