Route 57 is a restaurant with a difference not only because of its elegant setting and upmarket menu, it is also a joint venture between international golfing star, Louis Oosthuizen, and restaurateurs, Ilze Nel and Anzelle Zeelie. Loius Oosthuizen was the 2010 golfing Open Champion, and much of his golfing memorabilia can be seen around the restaurant. Based in an historic building, boasting sophisticated contemporary decor, Route 57 appeals to all the senses, while taking one on a culinary journey.
For starters, the menu delights our palates with offerings such as fish cakes with peach atchar; Smoked Trout; seared beef and couscous prawns. It is an arduous task to be be asked to pick a favourite for mains, between the tempting Trio of Venison or the Cape Malay Curry, through to the Ostrich Bobotie, Pork Neck - slow cooked; the Hake and Shrimp burger or the mouth-watering 'house favourite', Meraai se Chicken Pie.
The dessert menu offers abundant choice for those with a sweet choice, ranging from Koeksisters and Truffles, to Creme Brulee, Banana Crepes and Cape Brandy Pudding, served hot, with custard and ice-cream. The wine selection of over 40 premium wines includes Louis’ 57 private wines and vintages.
