The beautiful Free State offers endless landscapes where the browns and greens of the land rise to meet the clear, high skies for which this continent is known. It is home to the historical town of Rosendal, best known for arts and agriculture. Although it has a tiny permanent population, it boasts a number of art galleries, antique stores and boutique shops. It is also the residential address of the Rosa Restaurant & Theatre.

This eatery was once known as the Koffiestoep (which translates to coffee veranda in English), and is situated on the main road, making it conveniently placed in the centre of the historical town. It is a popular spot for locals to meet, as well as an inviting stop for visitors to the Free State that want good coffee and a delicious meal.

The a la carte menu has a range of dishes that appeal to a variety of palates and cravings. There are daily specials too. The lunch and dinner menus comprise salads, burgers, pastas, steaks, and pies. There are awesome meat dishes as well as a range of vegetarian options. Breakfasts include decadent omelettes, natural yoghurts and traditional fry-ups.

Pies, tarts and cakes are freshly baked and cater to the sweet teeth of young and old. The variety changes often and lures dessert-lovers back time and again.

The Rosa Restaurant can accommodate up to 70 diners, and is available for weddings, parties and other events. Free Wi-Fi is available for those who have work to do while sipping a cappuccino or snacking on something tasty. There is an indoor dining area as well as an outdoor garden, where the fresh air and sunshine can be savoured.

The theatre can seat 120 folk and hosts a number of performances, usually once a month.

Notably, prepared frozen meals and take-aways are also available from the Rosa Restaurant and its deli.
