Fresh, steaming coffee and homemade delights are the order of the day at Oppie Plaas Parys. This farm has been passed through four generations of the family, being loyally and lovingly cared for to create a warm ambience for visitors from all over the world.
Oppie Plaas is situated in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. This marks the largest and the oldest crater impact site on earth. It is believed to be twice the size of the impact that is believed to have the caused the extinction of dinosaurs tens of millions of years ago, and spans some 300 kilometres in width. This is all nestled within the beautiful North West Province of South Africa.
Oppie Plaas has used an old sheep and tobacco shed to create an inviting setting in which to indulge in hearty breakfasts, light meals, delicious cakes and desserts (including the ever-popular chocolate brownies), and the famous traditional ginger beer. All meals are prepared using fresh ingredients. Whenever possible, these ingredients are grown on the farm to ensure the best possible quality.
Those who have a passion for the outdoors will, no doubt, enjoy strolling around the abundant nursery. The plants can be enjoyed and purchased, and all of the pathways through the nursery are accessible for those in wheelchairs.
Families can enjoy fresh coffee while little ones meet their furry friends at the Animal Farm, or play on the jungle gym and swings, or in the sandpit. These facilities have made it popular for school outings and children’s parties.
